WEG supported the 2026 ALADYR Water Olympics, an international initiative promoted by the Latin American Association for Desalination and Water Reuse (ALADYR), which aims to increase children’s and adolescents’ knowledge and awareness of the importance of water and its sustainable management.
Targeting elementary and high school students, the program uses education as a tool to encourage a more conscious approach to water resources and present different alternatives to ensure access to water and its efficient use. Topics covered include water reuse, the treatment of effluents and wastewater, desalination, water quality and municipal water management.
In 2026, the Water Olympics reached 5,383 children and adolescents in 11 Latin American countries: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile and Bolivia. The initiative’s international reach helped bring the discussion on water management to different realities and contexts across the region.
The initiative is promoted by ALADYR, a nonprofit association that works to disseminate knowledge and experiences related to water management in Latin America, focusing on aspects such as quality, sustainability, economic development and access to water resources.
For WEG, supporting the project reinforces the importance of initiatives that bring together knowledge, education and sustainable development. In addition to providing financial support for the initiative, WEG also made a company professional available to participate as a speaker, contributing knowledge and experience to the program’s activities. This participation is related to the company’s business ecosystem, which develops technologies and solutions applied to different stages of industrial and infrastructure processes, including applications related to water management and efficient water use.
In addition to contributing to the development of a new generation that is more aware of the challenges related to water resources, the partnership strengthens WEG’s presence in a regional initiative connected to a strategic sector for the economic and social development of Latin America.
