WEG is strengthening its position as a complete solutions provider for electromobility with the supply of traction systems, batteries and chargers for the 40 new electric buses delivered to the city of Belém, in the state of Pará, Brazil. Electrified by Eletra, assembled on Mercedes-Benz chassis and CAIO bodywork, the buses were acquired by the state government to modernize the metropolitan public transport system and support the environmental commitments of COP30, which will be hosted in the city in November 2025.

These new electric buses will run on the dedicated lanes of the Metropolitan BRT System and represent a significant step toward decarbonizing urban transportation in Northern Brazil. With a range of up to 220 km and a capacity of up to 74 passengers, the buses can be fully recharged in as little as 4 hours, ensuring operational efficiency and availability for daily service.

“We are proud to contribute to such a relevant project in Belém, especially as the city prepares to host a global sustainability event, COP30”, says Carlos Grillo, Managing Director of WEG Digital & Systems.

With this delivery, WEG further expands its role in the electric vehicle segment, which already includes solutions in operation in major urban centers such as São Paulo (SP), Salvador (BA), Porto Alegre (RS), Manaus (AM), Goiânia (GO), and others.
