WEG has been chosen to supply medium-voltage electrical equipment for a major oil pipeline project in the United Arab Emirates, led by one of the world’s largest Oil & Gas companies.
This critical infrastructure will transport crude oil through a newly constructed pipeline that offers direct access to the Gulf of Oman, strategically bypassing the geopolitically sensitive Strait of Hormuz.
The project brings together key stakeholders, including a global OEM responsible for the centrifugal pumps and a leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm overseeing the overall execution.
WEG’s scope of supply includes:
• 14 medium-voltage drives (MVW01 series – Arc-resistant);
• 20 medium-voltage induction motors (W22Xdb and MGI900 models), with power ratings up to 7 MW;
• 11 oil-filled phase-shifting transformers, rated at 8 MVA and 8.3 MVA.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in August 2025 and will be managed by WEG Middle East. This project reinforces WEG’s regional presence and its strategic partnerships within the Oil & Gas sector.
Representing a key milestone, the project highlights WEG’s ability to deliver integrated, high-performance solutions for critical applications.
For the end user, the new system will enhance pumping capacity and unlock significant operational and logistical benefits by creating a direct oil export route through the Gulf of Oman.
